From the long, hard bow
of your patrician nose
to the taut riggings
of your shoulders and hands,
your vessel,
with its weights and balances,
its sails and hard, sudden acquiescences
to the tide and pull of other seaworthy bodies,
rides lean and sharp
with no fleet-mates
but my own slender marksman ship,
and together we'll navigate this
like any other twist
(whiskey wish or unfinished kiss)
thrown our way by this tumultuous ocean
we have decided to conquer and tame.
